January 26, 2011 - Ten Digit Dialing Begins February 26 in 402 Area Code
Beginning February 26, 2011, local phone calls in the 402 Area Code must be dialed using the area code plus the local 7 digit phone number. The option to dial local numbers using only seven digits will no longer be available. Telephone numbers assigned and in service in the 402 Area Code will remain the same. New numbers will continue to be assigned from remaining 402 Area Code numbering resources until the available numbers are depleted at which time new numbers will be assigned from 531 Area Code resources.
